Keiko Mecheri Launch – Photo Report

The Fragrant Man

Keiko Mecheri is a Japanese American who studied Fine Arts, travelled the world and then started her own Perfume House. The Auckland launch was at World Beauty.

Keiko has never heard of the perfume term EDT, let alone the word cologne. The range is opulent, rich and EDP++.

Oliban was rapturous, Damascena a delight, and Cuir Cordoba was sexy bordering on promiscuous. The stand-out of an outstanding range was Isles Lointaines which is indeed la isla bonita of perfume. Alas no Vetiver Velours reached these shores. I have no comment on Mulholland simply because it left no impression. Though maybe it will impress you.

When we’re old and grey and in the future these will be the good ol days!

APRIL FOOL’S + HAPPY EASTER MONDAY! public holiday and I struggled to complete an assignment but it had to done. its been done and dusted and now to eat dem chocolate eggs!

YAY my police check came in! so another step closer to Disney! And I can let the mouse boss know that I am no criminal

Another YAY! now today’s shot was supposed to be of sushi but my phone refused to co operate and so it instead became a shot of my favourite type of Easter egg! those filled with peppermint! its one of my favourite sweets! I NEED A SMART PHONE STAT!

pay day and new music… yes I still buy CDs what of it? actually I would have used iTunes if i had a reason to do so! But Josh Groban’s all that echoes is much lighter with regards to the emotional content of the album as opposed to illuminations. It still and OK album but i feel it just echoes the success of its predecessor  Love is just a 4 letter word on the other hand is is a great album! the lyrics I connect with and that s a big thing for me, so maybe I just need to listen to All that Echoes one few more times, it could be one of those things that grow on you. Image

Friday Night Fright Night is brought to you buy Daniel Radcliffe in the Woman in Black, a jumpy ass movie! but not as jumpy as my sister got when it finished and we watched River Monsters and they were in the Amazon and did a little feature on the giant bird eating spider. She was buried in her pink blanket curled up in a ball hands covering her eyes and peeking to see if they stopped showing the spider

HA! they didn’t think I would make it! But i did make it to an outing to the Bavarian Bier Cafe followed by dope ass games of pool at the Woolpack! I need chilled nights like this more often. Image

It was fate that led me to this magical night! like something out of Irish folklore. i had missed pre sale tickets and all that were left were nosebleed seats. then through the magic of Facebook someone was giving away tickets to the Script. Being only a few feet away as Danny spun and sung and drank on stage with the rest of the boys as I sang along to every song ( out of tune mind you and straight into the girls ear beside me)  I lost my voice, but it was worth it. To relive the heart ache of past relationships only to know that I was singing those blues away with The Script was insane! Totally dedicated another post separately to this.

So I drowned memories I want to forget in uni, work and assignments, let it out in a concert where the bass ran through my bones and my ears wouldn’t stop ringing once I got home. It was worth it. Hope this week has been good to y’all

much love

Not being a criminal means you get sent to uni on your weekend off at work.

and so the week begins and I’m still struggling without a smart phone. the convenience of snap, filter and upload is killing me! But anyway, its time for dinner and some dessert with a friend with whom I have a bti of history with. In fact half my life really. We ended up at N2 a gelato joint just where China Town meets Darling Harbour and not far from Dance God danceteria and they have a great markeing concept. Different gelato flavors made then and there in front of you in a lab inspired set up!

does the food in my life never end? I am always forever grateful for the creativity of people who can cook amazing spreads for no particular reason at all, one of those people being my mother. We’re both touch as nails and her stubbornness is most definitely a genetic trait in me. Despite all that she is always a wonderfully maternal ( as you would hope) cook!

mmmm seafood

FINALLY! I applied for this a while back as part of the DICP and after haggling with terrible customer service by the AFP I finally got them to get their shit together and send my criminal check out to me. I am no criminal yay! But honestly the long waiting times on the phone, the lack of warmth from their representative was annoying, not even a hi.

one of my memorable night outs was last year when I saw Les Mis live! but before, Parramatta had their lane ways events where the laneways were filled with little cafes, deck chairs, musicians on remodeled tram and at the end of the rainbow a pop up bar with cocktails in jam jars, whats cooler than that? Their business cards were on playing cards. yup my kind of evening. Oh the bar is called Grasshoppers and its in the city somewhere wedged between a few buildings, can’t remember where though, still have to visit it  again.

ok so this isn’t the orinal post I have for this day because it has my mother’s name and a few medical details I thought twice. basically she had day surgery and I went to see her in the evening after work, She’s doing just fine , still in a bit of pain but giver her her smart phone and facebook and she should be good. Addiction to smart phones and Facebook would be another genetic trait between her and I

what better way to spend your weekend off at work then to attend classes at university? I suppose thats’ what I get for doing an external unit. I shouldnt complain, some people in the class had come from interstate so I wasn’t really complaining. It was actually quite enjoyable and the uni wasn’t overrun with first years wearing hipster clother that made them look poor when in fact they had paid an arm and a leg for a singlet that looked worn and torn. downside, most of the food court was shut down

So after finishing today’s uni session ( YES BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY) i jumped on a bus and went to attend Palm Sunday mass in Parramataa, last week of the Holy season.

Palm Sunday Processino in Parramatta

thanks again for reading, this week was fairly un eventful

being thrown into the Stone age! No iphone :(

DISASTER! so my phone has been cracked up real bad on account that I’d dropped it several times but surprisingly the iphone was still in good working order, just had to activate the touch assist! But what eventually got to it was the battery, just refused to charge. Now coming back from South Africa I was content with reminding myself that I was better off, but no smart phone and I feel like I’m back in the stone age! I’m waiting til the Samsung to come out… so a month with no twitter, instagram, 8tracks, the fancy or facebook on the go for this boy. Image

checked out Jurassic Lounge where the Australian Museum in Sydney opens its doors up after dark. Its one of my favourite places to walk between the skeletons and fossils and I was really hoping to have a chilled night. Which was so so, there was a silent disco on a corner of the top level, a flash dance waltz at 8 o’clock which really was me prancing around with a girl around others who were pretending to be polite. Image

a day off and I spent it in the city again, this time to check out yet another museum. the MCA, whilst I am not a fan of the new exterior the artwork provides some sort of consolation. the current artist on show is Anish Kapoor and most of his sculpture play with out sense of perception. Image

Got the chest mount for my GOPRO as a late birthday gift from my sister. Can’t wait to use it!Image

studying with these two always result in some ridiculous shenanigans. Being in a remodelled basement that used to be a sex dungeon did not help either. Image

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPIDER MAN! He grows up so fast, no blood relation just another family friend but I love just watching him run around and interacting with whatever is in his head. Half the time he jumps around as a secret ninja cross spiderman and makes up songs. It won’t be long til he’s in big school.

He’s been flying around for work, so its always good to have the old man home for a few days before he flies out again.

Sunday Sundaes, Birthdays and cheap Palladium kicks

Study sessions in the backyard. I find I study best in fresh air, a scented candle and a sunset.

I love smart phones and how they offer en endless buffet of apps to assist in the art of procrastination. This time its photobooth  time after dinner instead with mi hermanaImage6.3.13

After 5 years of working my work got new floors and new doors. I’ve been here for too long!!Image

The free blurb photo book thatnks to Fatmumslim and Instagram, oh how I miss this app…. you’ll understand when I put up the post for next week’s Project 365!

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my little chipmunk cheeked sister. Image

picked up some pretty sweet palladium kicks at the market stalls that got set up at uni today.

Sundaes on Sundays to continue celebrating the sister’s birthday. Nut ‘n’ Fancy.

Seeing beauty in the ordinary.

In an attempt to kick myself into a healthy lifestyle I took on the Insanity program… i did the fitness test and then 2 days after and I’ve already fallen off the bandwagon. I mean I enjoyed dripping with sweat and motivating my sister ( yep its a sibling thing!) but truth be told Shawn T yelling at me to climb the mountain and then ski down just made me delirious.  I’ll see if I can get to day 3, otherwise I’m just goin to get on my bike…literally. Here’s my result from the fitness test.

OK so i didn’t take this today but it was sent to me by one of the most beautiful people I know! It made me miss Africa (then again what doesn’t these days?). This particular day of volunteering, we were mixing cement in cramped side of Priscilla’s creche. Now this creche is situated in the township so there wasn’t much of a breeze coming through and the sun was hot. Here I am dripping in sweat and water that’s been doused on me. Yes I’ll pretend to hate mixing cement but I did truly enjoy the work.

O-week at Macquarie University and whilst I’m volunteering as a student representative for ISV I indulged in some of the novelties of my last o-week. Here I sampled some bush tucker… the purple things are lilipilllies and they had quite a juicy taste. So hopefully I don’t find myself in an Alexander Supertramp or Bear Grylls situation, I hopefully can find and recognise some of these in the Australian outback.

I had a godmother in Japan? I probably met her at my baptism 22 years ago and she’s my mother’s friend from back in their high school days. Now she lives in Japan and through the wonderful help of technology she and my mother have re connected and she sent over a goodie package of Japanese clothes…. although personally I preferred the sweet letter she sent over to me. Mostly because it it had a chocolate theme to it

new month, new read. and this time its from another fellow Volunteer, yes she is pretty flipping accomplished! honours student and won  a writing competition to get her book published. Get onto reading My Nova by A.J Conway.

uni well and truly kicks in. I’m studying rocks and stuff. Its mildly interesting.

my work is getting a refit. see yo

Weekend’s off aren’t really weekends off

another week down! another week til I travel to America! which recent revelations showed me that my visa allows me to travel 30days before and after the program ends!! so if I get my affairs in order… I’ll be in California for 2 weeks! * cue the OC theme song!*

many of these quotes I’ll put up will most likely be from a man named Carlos Andres Gomez.  Poet, writer, social worker and a figure I like to look up to for his fierce honesty that has allowed him to write his book Man Up! Cracking the code on Manhood which exposes the vulnerability and beauty within men by retelling his own personal experiences of growing up with trying to be the man society wants him to be instead of be the man that he knows he should be. The creativity in the way he takes subjects from corporate corruption, sexualisation of girls, the education system to that of heartbreak and romance completely inspires me to be more proactive in my life and is a steadfast reminder that I am enough.

Rose Petal by Carlos Andres Gomez

ok so my parents came back from Singapore today and as they do they got me something. Which I do truly appreciate the gesture of a t-shirt but I think Im all tee-ed out this one was awesome.

they got us all interactive t-shirts which is sensitive to sound is yes battery operated and while my muscially talented sister and my dad got t-shirts with volume bars and my mum got one with a phone saying call me I got the one that has a loading bar and says well… you can see for yourself. I’m not slow! my mind just runs at a pace too fast for itself to even comprehend so we could be talking about whats for dinner and i could ask you ‘ if polar bears has cousins would those cousins eat orangers and lychees for dinner or would they have it as a snack?’ . Why you ask? I’ve been trying to figure it out myself.

I’m now slow im just… let me get back to you on that one

Today was a long day of stocktake! yay! so none stop counting candles, tealights, oil burners, vases and flowers without tags! what do I do for work? figure it out 🙂

Although through all this sorting a daisy would have been when my friend dropped by and gave me a late bday pressie! now I have a habit of talking to strangers, this one happened to be in one of my uni classes, she had long dark hair, a California accent and a great personality! We’ve always had good yarns although haven’t hung out as much as our schedules wished we did.

contents: a cake pop and a gift card. I hear Luna Rossa or Champion wants to live next to Allure, Guilty and YSL L’omme

a good catch up coffee at Coco Cubano. Very interesting events indeed. And despite having dinner and dessert at home I managed cheesecake with the less than average peppermint tea I was served. I was never this hungry while i was in Africa

Coco Cubano, Rouse Hill.

Went into uni to pick up my course notes ( which because I’m doing it externally it actually got delivered to my house so I now have 2 copies one of which I can’t return coz its course notes! or shoule that be curse notes?) Ahh well, I also went in for a meeting with ISV recruiters in preparation for  O-week next week. The tour book? Had a lovely girl help me out with prices of flight to America and tours… I think I can do better than what she showed me.

I’ve read one cover to cover the other one I ‘forgot’ was there

HAPPY (failed) SURPRISE BIRTHDAY TO MY DAD! he knew that family was waiting at the restaurant and practically saw them seeing as the restaurant had floor to ceiling windows. And he turned to look at my sister who was walking slowly in an effort to hide his cake. the look on her face when he turned around was priceless! And we did things his way, matching interactive t-shirts and smiles. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA!

yup were that family that coordinates costumes as much as we can. What of it?

what more birthday parties? well thats what the first few months of the year are like for me. This time it was a MARIO PARTY! ( yep I was loving that pun) well alot of the people copped out and just wore blue or green. Not I or her, thankfully I met a Mario ( Maria?) at the party! Now to find my Peach? ahhh Prufrock how you’ve ruined Mario for me.

today was another party, this time with people from church. it was another shindig for my dad. While at my aunts house I found this mask and it reminded me…I NEED TO GO TO ITALY AND BASK IN THE FESTIVITIES OF THEIR IL CARNIVALE! its on the hit list.

Commedia Dell’arte

Unexpected bus rides, lonely HEarts and quiet Friday nights

Ok, So I’m attempting to go back to a normal routine but South Africa refuses to let me forget it. Here is more of Project 365

nothing was out of the ordinary today, except for the fact that due to rain in the evening I was forced to catch the bus. Such an interesting story right?! Well it is seeing as I hadn’t caught this particular bus since high school and it bought back a school bag full of memories.

high school daze

ok so since returning from South Africa, I did notice a change with my perspective on things. Mainly that I didn’t care so much for materialistic things as much as I used to. This deeply concerned my close friends as they knew superfical I can be and obsessed with clothes and just spending money in general. It still is kind of still me, except now I can appreciate things alot more. Case in point, my coworkers go me Gucci Guilty intense for men and mmmmm it smells good! And it was all I spoke about before going to Africa.

its a criminal offence to smell this good

still attempting to undo my room and keep it as bare as possible! there just isn’t enough time… Need to make some executive decisions.

sorting through my shit.

Just another day in the year except today people think that spending a ridiculous amount of money on roses, chocolate, sexy lingerie and when the condoms shelves are empty at the pharmacy. Single again this year, and I really wouldn’t have it any other way… can’t really explain it seeing as to how romantic my thoughts can be at times. I may already have a perfect proposal outlined in my head already. Which is why the photo of a hand woven ring and bracelet is the photo of the day, no I don’t love myself, i love meeting new people. In this case it was a skinny man with a head full of blonde dreadlocks, bright eyes and a leathery looking skin ( probably from being at the beach everyday)  topped off with a British accent. His name was Simon and to say South Africa seduced him is an under statement. He used to live in England now he travels Africa and makes necklaces using techniques that locals teach him.

a reminder that South Africa did indeed happen… kind of like Leo’s inception spinner thingo.

a quiet one for a Friday and another birthday gift. She told me she wasn’t sure if I’d still like it considering how different is seemed. Nope still the same. Loved the whole set! She got it while on her cruise to New Zealand. muchos gracias senorita!

she knows me oh so well.

for some reason today’s photo was supposed to be of the birthday dinner I attended but while the food was great, the company was average so I bailed and ducked into my favourite cafe.

where thinkers drink… and write.

22nd + the Swiss Colour Run Sydney.

a special day in project 365. MY BIRTHDAY 22 and doing the Swiss Colour Run. Again over analysing everything I did it because I’ve always had trouble staying within the lines while colouring in as a child. As an adult I’ve always entertained the thought of pushing my own limits as well as that of others. at (9 am I was at the starting point and to be honest I was disappointed at the lack of creativity I saw from the crowd. yes there was the obligatory tutus but seriously I was the only one to hairspray my hair white?? it didn’t stay that way for too long.

My family are slow joggers so I just power walked. Yes I tasted talcum powder in my mouth and the worst part was blowing your nose and purple coloured snot came out. Rolling in the orange station seemed like a good idea except I forgot it was on a road. There may be a bruise developing over my right knee. Enjoy the photos and watch me and my family go from pure white to walking rainbows!

my scream happy face!

my family is a blank canvas waiting to be coloured in

best 22nd… really my only 22nd

it was then back home for a feast but I was dead tired and me falling asleep may have caused some dramas but hey its my party and I’ll cry if i want to!
